Jinya Zhao

Born and raised in China, Jinya Zhao discovered a passion for glass whilst studying for a BA at the China Academy of Art (2013-17) and MA at the Royal College of Art (2017-19).
She sees glass as an ideal medium to explore the themes of environment, emotions and personal experiences.

What was your latest book discovery? What are your favorite books of all time?

Recently I 'm reading Ordinary World, which is a novel by Chinese author Lu Yao. It consists of three volumes with a total of 1.1 million Chinese characters. In 1991, it won the Mao Dun Literature Prize and was honored with the title "a bright pearl of the Mao Dun Literature Prize crown".

Sketch books, color pencils, watercolor

What are your favorite gadgets?

A calendar. I love recording and planning, and arranging what is going to happen.
Also like to collect notebooks.
